‘Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord , and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord ; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. ‘ Psalm 37:3-6 https://www.bible.com/bible/111/PSA.37.3-6
I typed in desire into the Youversion Bible app and I found the word desire used so many different ways, but it was Psalm: 37: 4 that grabbed me. We have heard of prosperity preachers, tell us that our faith alone grants us the desires of our heart. That if you did not get your blessing, you did not pray hard enough. You did not believe hard enough. Worst of all you did not give a big enough offering. None of these is the answer to your unanswered prayer.
Take delight in Him. What does that mean? Do you have a quiet space and time to sit down and just talk to Him? Tell him all your fears, your hopes, and dreams. Yes, He already knows this, but He wants to see we desire Him. That we don’t look to Him as if He’s just a genie or He’s just there to make all your problems go away. He’s there to be your Father.
When you take delight in Him, you’re faith grows, so there is no need to worry whether your faith is big enough. It grows every time you spend time with Him. You don’t have to pray harder, it might not be the time or it’s something you do not need and He is looking out for you. Always He has something better in store for you, that you cannot even fathom. You cannot put a price on the righteous reward He has for you, but know it starts when you pursue Him.
Pray this with me.
Lord, all that you want from me is a relationship. That I take time to delight in you. Lord help me to focus in on YOU! Nothing else, not the list of things I want or the fears and worries that plague my mind. I know I can trust in You and do good. That I will dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. I will take delight in You, and know that You will give me the desires of my heart. I am commiting my life to you: trusting in You and knowing you will do this: You will make my righteous reward shine like the dawn, my vindication like noonday sun. I love you, Father.
In Yeshua (Jesus) Name I Pray, Amen
