‘But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” And God said, “I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain.” Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?” God said to Moses, “ I am who I am . This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘ I am has sent me to you.’ ”
Exodus 3:11-14 https://www.bible.com/bible/111/EXO.3.11-14
Moses was raised as the prince of Egypt. He made a deadly mistake. He killed a guard trying to rescue a fellow Hebrew from abuse. His crime was made known to Pharoah and he had to run for his life. On top of that, he was also a stutterer. He left his land knowing he could not go back. He was a murderer. A man of disgrace.
We might not be a murderer, but we all have a sin that sounds like it is our identity. Moses believed that was his identity. That’s why when God calls him to be His prophet, His savior of the Hebrew people, Moses doubted God. He told God several times he could not do what God had called him to do. What he did not know was that God did not need his abilities to accomplish what He was sending Moses to do. Moses’ weakness allowed God to use him.
God can use you. Your past mistakes do not count you out to what God has for you. Moses was so humble that he got to have what the cross has awarded us before it was even humanly possible. Moses got to walk with God. Be directly in His presence. No human has been able to do this since. Moses had a relationship with God. God was bae for Moses. Allow God to be that for you so that when He sends you, you reply with a yes.
Heavenly Father, I do not want my past to hold me back from where you are sending me. The purpose you have for my life. I do not want to come up with a laundry list of excuses like Moses. Renew my mind so that I can see where you are taking me and have faith to believe in where I am going.
In Yeshua’s (Jesus) Name I Pray, Amen.
