Empowered: The Powerless Church

If you are like many Christians, you believe in the Holy Trinity. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Yet, even though you believe, you focus on God the Father and God the Son. God the Holy Spirit is neglected. Which is strange since He’s the last to come and the only One presently on Earth.

‘When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. ‘

Acts 2:1-4 https://www.bible.com/bible/111/ACT.2.1-4

The day of Pentecost, one-hundred and twenty of Jesus’ disciples was gathered together praying.  This included the twelve apostles, with Matthias replacing Judas. Jesus had instructed them not to leave Jerusalem until the Advocate would come. The Advocate would help them spread the gospel. It would also empower them and give them authority here on Earth. This power and authority were to be shared with the entire body of Christ. So explain to me why I do not see that same power and authority today?

Many believe that it ended with the Apostolic age. It was only necessary to write the New Testament. Which is strange because it does not say that anywhere. Nowhere does Jesus say that the Holy Spirit was only baptizing just a few so that the Bible could be written.  The Holy Spirit was sent to empower and give authority to the entire body of Christ. What that means my friends, that today we should be living with the knowledge and understanding of what it means to have authority. This month is about teaching you what it means. This month is about spreading this message. I’ll explain why it disappeared, to begin with. It is also for you to desire this powerful life that God has in store for you. I pray that this lights a match in your heart and sets your spirit on fire so that you can live a victorious life amongst the saints.
